Discovered: The Human Beinz
This Ohio, USA-based quartet - Richard Belley (lead guitar), Ting Markulin (rhythm guitar), Mel Pachuta (bass) and Mike Tatman (drums) - made their recording debut on the local Gateway label. Their early releases featured spirited versions of Bob Dylan's "Times They Are A-Changin'" and Them's "Gloria" while other covers revealed an affection for the Who and Yardbirds. Signed to Capitol Records in 1967, the Beinz enjoyed a US Top 10 hit that year with an interpretation of "Nobody But Me", originally recorded by the Isley Brothers. The quartet embraced a more original direction with the competent Evolutions, but disbanded when this brand of superior pop/rock proved unsuccessful.

One of my favorite artists. This is for those mellow days.

Thanks for that Proximal, I've just had a light bulb moment. 'Into Dust' straight in to the deep chill set. I forgot how much I liked that one.

I bought the latest issue of MOJO Magazine the other day. There was a free CD that came with it. One of the songs was so awful that I grew to love it! Amazing how that happens. Check out this video of Jennifer Gentle singing "Take My Hand": youtube.com/watch [youtube.com/watch]
and then go to finetune and look the band up. I never heard of the band until I bought that issue of MOJO. Definitely an acquired taste, but kind of beautiful in a weird way.

Anytime, Proximal! As a child raised on Tiny Tim's music, I can appreciate the truly beautiful as well as the music that stimulates the gag reflex. You DID say you like finding new music/artists you've never heard of before. :o)
Seriously, check out Ron Sexsmith and his CD "Retriever." That's one of the better albums from the past five years or so. "High Dive" by Maria McKee is great, too.
